Polytherm underfloor cooling

Polytherm underfloor cooling

Underfloor heating is the air-conditioning system that many are currently opting for. The advantages offered by this system make it the perfect candidate when choosing which air conditioning system to install in your home.

One of the advantages it offers, combined with an aerothermal or geothermal system, is that it is capable of capturing heat from the outside and heating the home, or using underfloor heating to capture the heat inside the home and expel it to the street. Therefore, a totally comfortable air conditioning is achieved for all seasons of the year, your home will be heated in winter and cool in summer.

Underfloor heating, another option for cooling your home.

How does underfloor cooling work?

Underfloor heating is an air-conditioning system that consists of installing pipes under the floor through which hot or cold water circulates depending on whether it is winter or summer.

It is an air conditioning system that works to offer you the greatest possible comfort, allowing your home to be cool in summer or heated in winter. But how does this system really work?

The basic principle of the underfloor heating and cooling system is the supply of medium temperature water (around 40°C in winter and 14°C in summer) through pipe circuits. This water is heated or cooled by means of a heat pump, aerothermal or geothermal energy, providing a very comfortable and energy-efficient heating system.

These circuits are supported on a thermal insulator and covered with a layer of cement mortar, on which the final flooring is laid, which may be ceramic, stone, wood, linoleum or other materials.

When the system operates in heating mode, water is circulated so that heat is transferred to the environment through the mortar layer and the screed by radiation, conduction and to a lesser extent natural convection. In contrast, when a radiant system operates in cooling mode, the excess heat contained in the room is absorbed through the floor and the mortar layer containing the pipes through which the cold water circulates and dissipated to the outside of the house.

Underfloor heating vs. air conditioning

It should be borne in mind that underfloor cooling is not an air conditioning system, but it is a system that manages to reduce the room temperature by 3 to 4ºC with respect to the existing room temperature. Without air movements and with a high level of comfort.

So if you are looking for a system that provides maximum comfort, environmental commitment, free decoration, energy efficiency and bill-saving performance, underfloor heating is your best choice!
